“Hi, my name is Taylor. I’m an enrolled agent and today’s topic is where is my refund?
It’s that time of year again: Tax Season. And one of the biggest questions that we hear from our clients is how long is it going to take for me to receive my refund? Or when can I expect this to hit my account? And that can depend on a few different things. How are we filing the return?
There are two different choices we have for filing a return. We can e-file the return, which can result in quicker refund processing. Typically those take about 21 days. Or if we have to paper file the return, that adds a little bit of extra processing time for those to get mailed out and received. Those will usually take about, 6 to 8 weeks.
And that also is dependent on if there are any credits that we are trying to claim. If there’s an earned income credit or a child tax credit, processing those can cause some extra delays in getting those refunds. And then how did you choose to have that refund submitted? If you are filing your return, you can have that refund direct deposited into a bank account, which can also help speed that process up.
If you have filed your return. And it’s been the 21 days and you haven’t seen anything, you can always go to the irs.gov website and hit “Where’s My Refund?” to check the status of that refund anytime you feel like it.
Thanks for watching. Please comment below. We’d love to get your feedback on how long it might be taking you to receive your refund, or if you have any additional questions that you want to see covered on future episodes.
My name is Taylor with RetirementHelp.com. See you next time.”
